Volunteer Opportunities in October

 Constable Community Allotment

The volunteer sessions at Constable Community Allotment are continuing into the autumn, and we would be delighted if you could join us on Saturdays from 12 noon onwards. Hot drinks provided, bring a packed lunch if you like.

Over the course of the next few weeks we will be building a compost toilet, which may be of interest and you are also welcome to come and watch. Other autumn tasks will include planting spring bulbs, creating no-dig beds, and harvesting anything remaining of this first year’s produce. More info from Lausanne 07816 141169. Constable Community Allotment is located on Constable St, off Cholmley St, Boulevard, Hull HU3 3DF.  https://goo.gl/maps/hC1HMv77x5y

Oppy Wood litter clearance Wed 19 October

There will be a session to clear litter from Oppy Wood, off Dane Park Lane, between Orchard Park and Cottingham on Wed 19 Oct at 10.00 am.

The session has been organised by Jeannie Webster and volunteers from the Rainbow Garden. The wood contains a tribute to Hull’s war dead, and is named after a First World War battle site where many died. The wood is a wildlife haven and a pleasant place to walk round. Some fruit trees were planted last year and there are plans to install benches at the site. More info from Jeannie on 852081.
