Hull Harvest FEASTival 2017

This year’s Harvest FEASTival will take place at the Freedom Festival. It is a celebration of the abundance of local produce, people and skills. It will take place on Sunday 3 September at Queens Gardens in Hull from 5pm to 8pm and this year will be a ticketed event.

You are invited to pledge/donate veg, dry ingredients and equipment. Get involved for tickets to this home grown gastronomic, creative event!

Freedom Festival Arts Trust, in partnership with Hull Harvest FEASTival and Keepmoat Homes, have been working together throughout 2017 to deliver a gastronomic event like no other.

Throughout the year a city-wide growing project led by the Hull Harvest FEASTival team has been taking place across established and newly created allotments, farms and gardens to grow an abundance of vegetables to be harvested in time for this event. Volunteers from across Hull have pledged to ‘sow a row’ of veg, cook and share their food at an exciting ceremonious feast on the final day of the festival as part of this year’s 10th anniversary Freedom Festival.

For the Hull Harvest FEASTival team, this is the 3rd year of the feast and they are very excited about how collaboration with the Freedom Festival Arts Trust will enable them to reach more people about the messages of the feast. They said “This is a community event which celebrates local food and the sharing economy by feeding 1500 people for free! It is a celebration of abundance …. of food grown locally, peoples’ skills, equipment and space and a demonstration of what can be achieved when we connect and share. Our aim is to inspire people to do just that – connect, collaborate and create where money is the last option rather than the first.”

Taking place in the Freedom Festival Gardens in Queens Gardens, the free tickets were snapped up quickly but there is still a chance to get tickets by getting involved! This event would not be possible without the generosity of the people who donate their time, local produce, equipment and other ingredients for the event. Can you help? Everyone who does will be allocated tickets for their contribution. Here is how:

  • Pledge and Donate Vegetables and Fruit  – Whatever you can spare – we are heading into a period of abundance of produce and are very grateful for anything you can donate. Drop off details below.
