As most of you will probably know, there is to be a GLOBAL CLIMATE STRIKE on Fri 20 September 2019, with a planned week of action and a further strike on Fri 27 Sept 2019
Building on the monthly school strikes, the September event encourages people of all ages to take part, protesting the lack of action on the climate crisis and for an end to the use of fossil fuels.
In Hull, the local school strikers will be leading the local protest, at 11am in Queens Gardens. https://ukscn.org/events/
We know that lots of you belong to organisations that are taking part in the action, such as Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, Campaign for Rural England, Extinction Rebellion, and so on. We haven’t organised a Transition & Permaculture Hull specific contribution, but I’m passing on the following message from TimeBank, relating to Steve Elliott, an artist who did a wonderful climate change dragon for us in the early days of Transition Hull.
Steve Elliott of Iota Visual Arts is going to be supporting the Global Strike for Climate in Hull on 20 September (Queens Gardens from 11am). He is painting the back of the Timebank banner with the messages “Grow more Trees” and “Stop using insecticides” and would like to invite others to join him in the demonstration with their own messages on placards etc. Anyone wanting to hook up with Steve contact iotavisualarts@gmail.
