Composting for Beginners

Discover how to make your own compost using fruit and vegetable waste and other organic matter. “Waste not, want not”! Consider whether or not to make, buy, re-purpose a compost bin or heap and familiarise yourself with the way a compost bin is layered to give maximum efficiency. Realise the benefits of making your own compost as opposed to buying it, and have a go! We will briefly discuss other methods of composting and improving your soils and you will be able to observe how easy it is to build your own wormery, great fun especially if you involve children! There will be a discussion on the importance of soil improvement to help us produce healthier crops without the use of chemicals. Presented by Lausanne Tranter.
