Join Hull Butterfly City’s Plant Share and Seed Swap
Hull Butterfly City aims to plant Buckthorn saplings across the city, which will attract female Brimstone butterflies from as far as two miles. As the only requirement for the Brimstone is Buckthorn, this makes it an ideal urban butterfly, and the idea is to establish a population of Brimstone butterflies in the city.
A couple of events were planned for February, but the first was on the 20th and had to be scaled down owing to the weather. The main event will now be
Saturday 26th February 12 noon til 2.00pm at Constable Street Community Allotment, Constable Street, Hull HU3 3DF
To encourage people to grow butterfly and insect friendly plants, there will be FREE Buckthorn saplings for people to take home and grow, and to plant out on the community site.
There are loads of plants and seeds left over from earlier, scaled-back event, so please come along and see what there is, take any away with you, and bring some seeds to swap if you have any. There will be a range of house plants, shrubs and seeds so come along even if you don’t have anything to share, we would love to help you to get growing!
